Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day? You’ve heard your mom say it a million times, and you’ve heard it throughout all of elementary school, but does it really matter if you eat breakfast or not? After an immense amount of research, we can assure you that breakfast is significant. Here is why eating breakfast changes everything.

Why Breakfast is Important

Breakfast, the meal that literally breaks your overnight fast, is important because it replenishes your glucose and essential nutrient supply. This is the most effective way to keep your energy levels up and metabolism rates fast. Glucose is our body’s main energy source. When you wake up in the morning, your glucose levels are down due to the lack of food in your system. Once your body has used up all of its stored glucose it turns into fatty acids for energy, resulting in reduced energy throughout the day.

Inflammation

Skipping meals, specifically breakfast, can cause inflammation. When we skip meals, our natural metabolic process is negatively disrupted. Inflammation can result in weight gain, obesity, heart disease and diabetes. If your main goal for skipping breakfast is weight loss, you will be vastly disappointed by the results. Skipping meals leads to a slower metabolic rate, which leads to weight gain. If you want to lose weight, adding breakfast and healthy snacks throughout your day will accelerate the process. What You Eat

When you eat is as important as what you eat. Breakfast calls for French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled cheese eggs and bacon, right? No! These things are okay for indulging every now and then, but this is not the kind of breakfast you should be eating every morning. Typically, we eat specific foods at specific times of the day. There are no rules against eating a healthy chicken dish or hearty salad for breakfast. These ingredients hold much more nutritional value and are more fueling.

Excuses For Skipping Breakfast

Breakfast is a hassle during the hustle and bustle of weekday mornings. There’s not enough time, no energy to bother, wanting to hit the snooze button, or not having any readily available healthy breakfast options in the house. These are all common and understandable reasons for skipping breakfast, but they are really just excuses. Every one of those reasons is fixable. Make eating breakfast a priority for you and your family, and you will see exponential results in your daily life.

Eating breakfast changes everything. Eating breakfast on a daily basis is beneficial to your energy, metabolism and overall health. We know it can be difficult to get up a little earlier or plan a little better, so try prepping breakfast for two or three days at a time.
