Jason Medina Assistant Office Manager-
As one of the two assistant office managers, he is in charge of overseeing billing and the Assisted Living Facilities (ALF’S). Jason also assists with any patient issues or concerns. He has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and hopes to someday begin a career in the Criminal Justice field. In the meantime, he enjoys his job everyday due to in part to the patients and the staff.

About Our Hialeah Medical Clinic
Dr. Gloria Mendizabal Piedra has been in business for the past twenty five years servicing the Hialeah medical needs in the greater Miami area. She received her doctorate from the Universidad De Oviedo in Spain. She would later obtain her residency and serve as chief resident at Metropolitan hospital in New York. She has hospital privileges locally at Metropolitan (formally Pan American Hospital), Hialeah hospital, and the Hialeah Clinic, University of Miami hospital (formally Cedars hospital), Palmetto General Hospital, and Palm Springs Hospital.
Dr. Mendizabal-Piedra was born in La Habana, Cuba. Her family wanting the best for her sent her to the United States at the young age of 15. While in Miami, FL, she graduated from Miami Springs Senior High. She then set out for Spain to attend Medical school, in an attempt to follow in her father's footsteps. Accompanying her on her journey would be her new husband, Osvaldo Piedra, an aspiring physician himself. Dr. Mendizabal-Piedra obtained her Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from La Universidad De Oviedo in 1984. She completed her internship at Metropolitan Hospital in New York in 1986. Dr. Mendizabal-Piedra also completed her residency and served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital in 1989 and 1990, respectively. She opened her medical practice in 1990 and has been located in the same location since as a Hialeah based doctor.
Carmen Bustamante - Medical Assistant
Carmen Bustamante was born in La Habana, Cuba to a family of medical professionals. Their love and passion for practicing medicine was passed onto Carmen as well. She attended El Instituto Ciencias Medicas de la Habana and obtained a Doctorate in Medicine in 1996-2002. Since arriving in Miami, FL in 2004, she has been on staff as a medical assistant. She is currently enrolled at Florida International University Nursing program and anticipates a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Class of 2011). Her aspiration is to become an Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Sandra Veloso- Medical Assistant
Sandra works as the Medical Assistant to the office which has a wide range of duties including taking patient vitals, conducting EKG’s studies, performing phlebotomy and preparing patients prior to seeing the doctor. Sandra was born in Cuba and attended Everest Institute where she obtained her degree as a Medical Assistant in 2010.Emely Bonilla- Front Desk receptionist
Emely was born and raised in Miami, FL and graduated as a Medical Assistant from Florida Career College in 2011.She works in the front desk where she answers the phone, takes messages, and attends to patients. Her main duties are using the e-prescribe system to input medicines for patients into their respective pharmacies. Emely’s dream is to pursue a career in the medical field.Julio Prado- Physician Assistant
Dr. Prado graduated as a medical doctor in 1973 in Havana, Cuba. He practiced in the area called “Las Tunas” for three years and eventually returned to Havana. He would obtain his specialization as an OB/GYN in 1980. Once obtaining his specialization, Dr. Prado worked as a gynecologist in the hospitals “ Hijas de Galicia” for three years and Guames “Pinar Del Rio” for eight years. Dr. Prado ended up getting the opportunity to come to the United States where he took and passed the Board of Physician Assistant in 1992. Since then, he has been working in different medical offices in the Miami and Greater Miami area getting good experience in the care and management of patients. Yenicey Ramos- Ultrasound Technician
Job duties include: Use of highly technical sonogram equipment to produce images of obstructions inside the body and communication with the client, ensuring their comfort during the procedure. Yenicey’s aspiration is to become an ultrasound technician specialist.Yinelys Ramirez- Referrals Coordinator
Born in la Provincia Las Villas, Cuba. Yinelys has always had an interest in the medical field. She is currently enrolled in Miami Dade college studying to graduate as a Registered Nurse. Her ultímate goal is to one day become a Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Yinelys is currently the Referrals Coordinator of the office.Stephanie Peña- Office Manager
Stephanie has been with GMP Medical since January 2011. As the Office Manager, she is in charge of the Front Desk, Nursing, Referral and Medical Record department. Stephanie also serves as a liason to all established and new patients. Her bachelors degree in Health Services Administration has helped her in all her daily activities. Her professionalism, great personality and good mannered nature makes her much appreciated by the patients and staff members of the office.
Carmen Landaburu- Medical Records
Carmen was born in the city of Habana, Cuba. After her studies, she graduated in 1976 as a mathematics professor. She began working as a professor in different high schools and in 1988 graduated with her PHD in Mathematics. After a very active teaching career, she was able to immigrate to the United States. Upon reaching the US, she received her diploma from Miami Dade College to work with children in a Day Care setting. Carmen has been with the office of Dr. Mendizabal since 2009 in the medical records department.
Beverly Torres- Front Desk
Beverly was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico but raised in Miami, Fl since the age of two. She has her Patient Care Assistant Certifications from Everest Institute. She works in the front desk attending phones, e-prescribing medications attending patients and making appointments. She is also trained in the referral, billing, medical records and triage departments. She will be attending Barry University to purse her career in nursing in the BSN program. Her ultimate goal is to become a Neonatal Internal Care Unit Nurse.
Yeneika Lima- Medical Biller & Coder, CPC-CPMA Certified
Yeneika is the newest addition to GMP Medical as our Certified Medical Biller & Coder. She began her studies in Keiser Career College where she graduated with her Medical Billing degree. She gained experience in the extensive billing field which helped her pass her CPC & CPMA through the AAPC.
Martha Oliva- Medical Assistant
Martha was born in Santiago de Cuba. She attended the Medical School of Camaguey and obtained a doctorate in Medicine in 1994. She worked as a family doctor from 1994 - 2003. She volunteered with seniors at a christian organization, Missionary Ventures Canada. Since her arrival to Miami, Fl in 2012, she has been on staff as a medical assistant at GMP Medical. She aspires to one day becoming a Medical Technologist.
